The caveat of obtaining a great cash back credit card is that it’s going to take an excellent credit history to do so.
Below you will find what I feel are the best cash back credit cards available from our partners. Please review these cards carefully and determine which one is right for you before applying. For those with truly excellent credit, you may want to consider applying for multiple offers and racking up the up-front bonuses.
CompareWallet’s Best Cash Back Credit Cards
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express – It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a credit card offer such a lucrative rewards package, but the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express is the easy pick for perhaps the best cash back credit card. This card offers an amazing 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000), 3% cash back on US gas stations and select department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases.
Included is a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months, with an on-going APR of 12.99% – 21.99% variable. The slight drawback of applying for the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express is the $75 annual fee, but the annual fee is easy to accept because the savings are huge. *Terms and limitations apply.
Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card – $100 bonus cash back is as good as you’ll find for a cash back card and the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Visa Card – $100 Cash Back delivers just that. A $100 statement credit comes after spending $500 in the first three months and 1% cash back is earned on all purchases. Rotating categories every month are entitled to 5% cash back from Citi and the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Visa Card has no annual fee. This offer and/or promotion may have since changed, expired, or are no longer available.
Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express – A very similar card to the Preferred version, the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express starts off with a $50 cash bonus after spending $1,000 in the first three months of card membership. 3% cash back is earned at U.S. supermarkets, 2% cash back on gasoline at U.S. gas stations and select department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. The 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers is for 15 months, with an on-going APR of 12.99% – 21.99% variable. The big benefit is, unlike the Preferred Card, the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express has no annual fee. *Terms and limitations apply.
TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express – If you have a Costco membership, then owning the TrueEarnings Card from Costco and American Express is a must. 3% cash back can be earned on gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations (up to $4,000 spent annually), 2% cash back is awarded at U.S. restaurants and on eligible travel purchases; and 1% cash back is given on other purchases, including purchases at Costco. Since Costco makes you pay with this card or your debit card, it’s the only way to earn cash back at Costco! There’s no annual fee to own this card so long as you pay your Costco membership every year. *Terms and limitations apply.
